Cleanup and reorganization
I went back to the whiteboard to plan this adventure once again.
First, I stopped writing a monthly news summary. Mainly because I didn’t have the time. Second, following the news is depressing, everything is shit, clickbait, and rage bait. It’s not worth wasting your life on it.
Second, I changed my approach to gamedev, also mainly due to lack of time. I had to honestly admit to myself that I was chasing trends. I don’t know if that’s a good approach — it wasn’t for me. I tried to force myself to make something that I didn’t enjoy, but that is currently popular. I came to the same conclusion: it’s not worth wasting your life. Financial success isn’t guaranteed anyway, even if you release a game in a currently popular genre, so I decided to stop worrying and make what I want. Whatever happens, happens. If it doesn’t work out, so be it. For now, it’s just a hobby anyway.
I deleted my old projects and started making prototypes that I showed to friends. I currently have a project that has brought me a lot of joy since day one, so I think I did the right thing. I alternate working on it with making small prototypes, and I already have my next two games planned. My productivity has increased, my life satisfaction has increased — which is exactly what I expect from a hobby.
We’ll see how it turns out.
